New Construction in Canoga Park, From the Ridge Down
New house construction in Canoga Park with a roof that sheds water at every edge: lapped underlayment, metal valleys, crickets and drained low-slope areas.
Water on a new Canoga Park roof should leave by the shortest safe path, and every edge, valley and wall junction is detailed for it. Underlayment laps shingle-fashion from the eaves up. Drip edge turns water off the fascia. Valleys get metal liners, and anything wide that interrupts the slope, such as a chimney or a curb, gets a small cricket on its uphill side so water flows around it.
Underlayment, edges and valleys
The underlayment starts at the eaves and works upward, each course lapped over the course below. At the eaves the drip edge goes under the underlayment, and at the rakes it goes over, so water always lands on the surface below. Valleys get a metal liner over a self-adhered membrane. Pipes and vents pass through flashing boots sized to the pipe. Chimneys and skylights get their own flashing kits, counterflashed into the wall or curb above them. We photograph these layers before roofing covers them, so the work stays visible in your file.
Flat sections and the overflow
A low-slope section, such as a porch roof or the area behind a parapet, takes a membrane in place of shingles or tile. Tapered insulation or sloped framing pushes water toward a drain or a scupper, so nothing ponds. Where a parapet would trap water, the code calls for a secondary overflow, set a little higher than the main drain, in case leaves block it. Gutters along the eaves carry the water to downspouts and away from the walls. LADBS checks the roof sheathing nailing at the frame inspection, and the roofer's details follow the approved sheets.

New Construction in Canoga Park: questions
The height cap shapes a roof as much as a floor plan, so zoning comes first, beside the boundary survey and a soils report. Tell us if you want tile, a flat deck or solar panels up top, because each changes the slope, the framing and how water is led off the roof.
Approval work comes first under its own price: design, engineering and the LADBS permit. Construction is estimated after that, following the build from the ground up. The roof line names the underlayment, the flashing package, the gutters and any membrane areas, so the cost of keeping water off the roof is clear.
Our office sets the order. The boundary survey goes first, borings come next, and the structural engineer frames the roof for the covering you choose. We review the roof plan with your designer so valleys, crickets and drains are drawn, check that all documents agree, and route each plan check comment to whoever owns that sheet.
