ADU Construction in Lakewood
Lakewood ADUs built along the delivery route: driveway access to the back of the lot, staging that leaves room for the rebuild, permit and build.
If a driveway runs along one side of a Lakewood lot to the back, that strip of concrete turns into the supply line for a backyard unit: lumber stacks, the chute of a concrete truck, a small excavator for the footings. When the house beside it was lost to a fire, the route may be open and wide. When part of it still stands, we measure every pinch point so each delivery is planned to fit.
Deliveries along the driveway
An older driveway slab can crack under a loaded truck, so we either lay protective mats over it or agree up front that it will be replaced after the build. Lumber and drywall are dropped in the order they will be used and staged at the back, which keeps the drive clear for the next load. A debris bin set in the street may need a city permit, and we arrange that before work starts. Where the route narrows below what a truck can pass, concrete is pumped through a hose.
Leaving the way open for the main house
Placement matters as much as access. A unit set too far toward the driveway side can block the path the replacement house will need later, so we keep it clear on the plan. Utility trenches for water, power and sewer usually follow the drive, and they are buried deep enough and documented so later trucks do no harm. Lakewood's plan check sees all of this on the site plan, along with setbacks and the separation between the two buildings, before the permit is issued.

ADU Construction in Lakewood: questions
If the city's rules permit that order, it suits a lot with a side driveway, because the drive stays free for the larger build afterward. The unit gets its own permit and final inspection before anyone moves in, and its utilities are sized for the main house too.
The package fits when the unit has no upper floor, measures 500 square feet or less, and the yard behind the house has room to place it within the setbacks. We pace out the drive and the yard with a tape on a visit before confirming.
A garage at the end of a driveway is a good candidate, since access is already there. We test the slab, look over the studs and rafters, and see whether an egress window can be cut in without breaking the setback to the line behind it. The result is priced next to building new.
