Studio City ADU Construction, Planned From the Curb Back
Studio City ADU construction after a fire: trusses and beams lifted to the back of the cleared lot, LADBS plan check, and a build signed off stage by stage.
Roof trusses for a Studio City ADU arrive as long, stiff pieces that will not make the turn into a tight side yard. While the lot is still open after a fire, a boom truck at the curb can lift those trusses, the ridge beam and the drywall over the ground where the main house will stand and set them down beside the unit. We plan that lift, and the curb space it needs, before ordering the framing package.
Lifts, street space and loads carried on foot
A boom truck needs a firm, level spot at the curb, clear of trees and overhead wires, and its reach sets how far back a bundle can land. If the truck or a roll-off bin has to occupy part of the street, the city can require a separate permit for that, apart from the building permit, and we arrange it before delivery day. Smaller loads still go by hand: bagged mortar, boxes of fasteners, pipe, wire and fixtures. A foot path along one side of the lot, kept free of stacked material, carries those by cart, and it later becomes the path to the unit's door.
Plan review and inspections for the unit
Drawings for a Studio City ADU are reviewed by the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety. Our site plan shows the unit, the outline of the planned house, the setbacks and the delivery path, so the reviewer sees how both buildings share the ground. Plan check corrections come back to us, and we revise the sheets and answer each note in writing until the permit issues. The first inspection then looks at the open footing trenches, and the last one clears the unit for occupancy. Between those inspections, each stage of the work is signed off before the next layer hides it.

ADU Construction in Studio City: questions
Yes, where the city lets the unit be occupied first, and the open lot is a practical reason to try. Lifting trusses and drywall to the back is simplest while nothing stands between the curb and the unit. Once the main house is framed, a later ADU has to be supplied around it or over a finished roof, which takes more planning and heavier equipment.
A one-story design no bigger than 500 square feet is what the package covers, and we look at the lot to confirm it can take one before you commit. For your Studio City parcel, the site plan we prepare places the unit, the planned house and the delivery path on one sheet, which lets the plan checker review the placement of both buildings together.
If the garage came through the fire, it may already stand near the back of the lot, so converting it needs far fewer deliveries than a new unit. Whether it can hold a home turns on its slab, its wall framing and its roof, which we open and inspect. You then get two written figures, one for converting it and one for building new, to compare.
